Two peas in a pod, two blessings from above
Please celebrate with us
as we shower the babies with love!
As you can see, I recently hosted a baby shower with my mom for one of my dear friends who I grew up with, Jo. She is due to have twins, one boy and one girl, this January. We had so much fun planning and hosting the shower! This was my first baby shower to go all out and actually host at my mom's house, and it was just a ball. Of course I got a little help and advice from the all time best party planner, my aunt Peggy. It was also quite challenging to plan from Lubbock, while the shower was going to be in Columbia. The theme for the shower, if you couldn't already tell, was "two peas in a pod". We used various shades of green and navy blue. Here are a few pics from the occasion:
This was one of the dining tables, there were actually three flower arrangements on this table, and the hurricanes were in between. Didn't they turn out just lovely?!
The cake was a bit of a disappointment, as it looked nothing like the picture I found. But it still tasted delicious and was cute!! The cupcakes had little fondant pea pods on top, which Jo LOVED because fondant is her favorite. She could just eat it all day :)! :
This were the napkins and napkin tags! The napkins were folded SO cute by my mom and one of her friends who has a whole book of different napkin folds. Attached to each napkin was a pea pod drink charm and footprints for everyones drinks and a personalized tag that said "JoVonna's Baby Shower, September 26, 2009". The blue ribbon was adorable and matched the invitations! :
The diaper cake was to DIE for!! I couldn't help assemble it, being so far away, but my mom recruited some of her friends to help and figure out how to do it. I told them to just google it, and apparently they spent a few hours just dying laughing at some of the You Tube "how to make a diaper cake" videos! HA! One of my mom's friends is really talented with decor, and she made the ribbons that went around each layer of the cake. You can't see the ribbon very well in this picture, but it was just beautiful blue & green ribbon. Aunt Peggy found a picture of a diaper cake online that had those "oh baby" wooden letters in it, so mom went to hobby lobby and created those letters as well! I think this is the best diaper cake I have EVER seen!:
This is a picture of the candy buffet. Of course I had to have a candy buffet! We used shades of green candy. Little did I know, we ended up using some of Jo's favorite candy - apple flavored licorice! This isn't a good picture and doesn't do the candy bar justice. The jars we used were different shapes and heights and we searched high and low for them. Most were found at a Marshall's "Home Goods" store. *Side note - who knew Marshall's had a HOME GOODS store?!?!? It's my new favorite place for home goods! Ha!
We played a few fun games at the shower, which turned out okay. I might use some of the other games we had in mind next time. Jo got some good gifts, and the pea pod boppy cover was my fave gift :). I forgot to take pictures of the gift I made for Jo, but hopefully she will do that for me and I can talk about those in another post because I think they turned out really cute! :)
