TEN goals for 2010:
1) Eat healthier.
-I already eat pretty healthy, but I would like to do better! There is so much media and information out there right now highlighting the importance of getting rid of processed foods in our life. I guess with this goal, I want to try to incorporate more FRESH food in my diet, and slowly eliminate anything packaged & processed. I know I won't go entirely green or vegan by any means, but I just want to do better!! It is going to be a challenge trying to cook like this at home, because I have a husband who doesn't like vegetables. We are working on it.
2) Spend more time with God.
-This one is pretty much self explanatory.
3) Get organized.
-Between Josh and myself, we just have so much STUFF. And our house has very little storage space. We have already begun the cleaning out process, and have a few boxes in our dining room right now that we need to sort through and take to good will! I also would like to re-organize every closet/cabinet this year. I usually do this throughout the year, but I want to make it a goal so I actually do it REALLY good this time around. As far as pictures go, I would like to get our pictures organized on the computer, and maybe even burn DVD's of pictures so we have them backed up. I need to first figure out our new computer (it's a mac) so I can get moving on this.
4) Be a better wife and friend.
-I think I am a pretty good wife :) but there are times when I could be better to Josh. Marriage takes work. I need to stop and take into consider the his needs/her needs book and the love languages. I want to make more phones calls, send more letters and emails to friends. Those have become too infrequent.
5) Get Finances in order.
-Now that Josh and I are both employed with a good income, we need to get back on track with our Dave Ramsey plan. We are already paying off some debt (cars & student loans) and I am so excited! One thing that needs a little work is the monthly budget - we need to really stick to it better! Sometimes we get a little carried away and say things like "oh, it's okay if we go out to eat like a gazillion times this month, it will be the LAST time". Ha.
6) Make our house a "home"
-We have a few unfinished projects around the house I want to get done. Most of these are small things like painting, hanging a few pictures, hanging new fixtures, etc. We also need to search for a few decor items like a rug, lamps, etc. My ultimate goal is to purchase our loveseat and chair and 1/2 to finish out the living room set. I am also hoping Josh will have more time this summer to build our living room furniture (the end tables, media console, and coffee table :) I will make do with what we have for now.
7) Run TWO half marathons!
-One of these halfs will be complete on February 14 and I am getting excited/nervous (I will write more about this in another post). I hope to run another one this fall with a good friend around Novemberish. Location is still TBA.
8) Start saving for a really nice vacation!
-plans are in the works for the vacation locale, but a lot of factors will affect it so more information on this is to come.
9) Train for a TRIATHALON.
-I am going to overcome my fear/hatred of the bike and do this. I say "train" because I haven't found an actual race yet. Who know's if I will actually do a race, but I am going to follow a training plan to stay fit late this spring/summer!
10) Host Christmas 2010 at our house!
-I don't think this will happen, but I really want my Mom, Dad, and brothers to come to Lubbock this Christmas, so we'll see :). I know this goal is kind of lame, but I couldn't think of any more good goals.
